YSLG TO LOCKUP HOUSES WITH NO TOILET

In line with Ogun State government’s policy of creating conducive and hygienic environment at ensuring healthy living for the people, Yewa South Local Government has vowed to lockup houses with no toilet within the area.

The Chairman of the local government, Hon. Lateef Salami, gave the warning, while playing host to the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Environment, Mr. Samuel Oyeleye, in his office at Ilaro.

Hon. Salami who revealed that the council has issued notice letters to affected houses, stated that the local government would not collect the usual fine of Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000) from erring landlords but ensure their compliance.

He called for synergy between the local government and the Ministry of Environment, to engender more conducive environment.

Speaking, Mr. Oyeleye reiterated the need for the local government to be more proactive, especially in the area of sanitation to promote healthy living among the people in the area through sensitisation and desist from building on waterways to prevent flooding.

Contributing, the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr. Bankole Omitogun, while appreciating the Permanent Secretary for the visit, pledged that the council would continue to promote hygienic environment.
