FG HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS, ACCESSMENT MEETING OVER CONSTRUCTION OF SOKOTO BADAGRY ROAD

In a bid to enhance and ensure more adequate infrastructural development in the State, the Federal Government has organised a stakeholder’s community engagement and assessment meeting cutting across the four Local Government Areas of Ogun West Senatorial District, comprising Ipokia, Imeko Afon, Yewa North and Yewa South Local Government.

Speaking at the meeting held in Ilaro, lead consultant TSL Engineering, Engr. Gonwalk Celestine, said all mechanism for the commencement of the road construction were on ground, saying the Federal Government has planned to construct a super highway six lane road project from Sokoto to Badagry, aimed at linking Lagos, Ogun, Oyo to Sokoto State for easy connectivity and economic expansion.

He stated that the road project had a transformative socio-economic benefits, poised at creating job opportunities, rural -Urban development, and establishment of industries, economic growth and other social amenities along the corridor.

Earlier, project manager TSL Engineering, Engr. Marquise Okoruwa, revealed that the Federal Government was fully ready to commence the project, urging residents of the affected Local Government Areas to cooperate with the engineers on site, explaining that the benefits of the construction included creation of new industrial zone, export processing centre, CNG plant factories, establishment of schools and hospital among others.

In his contribution, Federal Controller of Environment in Ogun State, Mr. Olamuyiwa Olaiya, enlightened the residents of the affected four Local Government Areas on how the project would look like, saying that it would be imperative to test and monitor the water, soil and air of the affected areas.

Reacting, Local Government Chairman of Yewa South, Barr. Abraham Ogunsola , represented by the Director of Community Development and Social Services, Mr. Fatosin Taiwo, commended the Federal Government’s efforts towards the construction of the six lane project which cuts across four Local Government areas of the state, imploring people of the affected areas to cooperate with government officials and the construction companies handling the project.

In their separate goodwill messages, Hon. Odugbemi kamilu from Owode, Yewa South acknowledged government’s efforts in transforming the area through the high way project.

Also, Mrs. Akinyode Ololade from Yewa North appreciated government on its efforts towards making movement of traders and farmers conducive in the area.
