All is set for the opening ceremony of an international conference initiated by the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR to honor the world renowned historian, elder statesman and Asiwaju of Yewaland, Professor Anthony Ijaola Asiwaju.
The ceremony which comes up on Wednesday, 17th April, 2024 by 10am at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta among other dignitaries will have all the Paramount ruler in Ogun State including HRM Oba Kayode Adetona (the awujale of ijebuland), Oba Dr. Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, The Olu of Ilaro & the Paramount Ruler of Yewa Land, Oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo the Alake of Egbaland and Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi The Akarigbo of Remoland including the Alaketu of Ketuland (Republic of Benin) HIM Oba Akanni Adedamola Aderomoye as Royal fathers of the day.
The Onimeko of Imeko, HRM Oba Benjamin Alabi Olanite will also lead other obas in Ketuland Nigeria to the event.
The conference with the theme: Comparative African History And Borderlands Studies, scheduled to begin on Wednesday 17th till Friday 19th April is to honor the exceptional scholarship, service and contributions of Professor Asiwaju to the development of Ogun State, both as a former Boundary Commissioner and a Distinguished member of the Ogun State Council of Elders.
The conference is being jointly organised by the Departments of History and Diplomatic Studies, of both Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun and Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Woye, Ogun State.
