A Grand Commencement: Yewa Cultural Festival Begins

The air was abuzz with anticipation as the curtains lifted on Yewa’s highly awaited cultural festival, marking the commencement of a celebration that promised to be nothing short of spectacular. The festival’s inauguration began on Saturday, 7th October and was distinguished by a World Press Conference and a special award session, both of which added an air of prestige and glamour to the event. The occasion was further graced by the esteemed presence of Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Ogun State Deputy Governor, who lent a touch of official splendor to the festivities.

The festival’s launch began with an electrifying world press conference, which drew the attention of journalists, media personnel, and cultural enthusiasts from around the world. This dynamic event served as a platform for the festival organizers to present their vision, the rich tapestry of cultural events lined up, and the impact they aimed to make in the global cultural landscape. From traditional performances steeped in heritage to cutting-edge contemporary exhibitions, the festival’s offerings promised something for every palate.

HONOURING EXCELLENCE: YEWA SPECIAL AWARDS 

The World Press Conference was followed by a much-anticipated special award session, a ceremony dedicated to recognizing outstanding individuals in Yewaland. This prestigious event brought together luminaries, visionaries, and trailblazers who have made exceptional strides in their respective fields. Prof. Rahmon Bello, Chairman, Yewa People’s Development Council, reemphasized the need to celebrate those who continue to put Yewaland on the national and global map.

Recipients were H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State Governor; H.E Engr. (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Ogun State Deputy Governor; Sen. Aremo Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District; Hon. Isiaq Salako, Minister of State for Environment; Hon. Isiaq A. Akinlade, Honourable Member representing Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency; Hon. Tunji A. Akinosi, Honourable Member representing Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency; Hon Gboyega N. Isiaka, Honourable Member representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency; Barr. Festus A. Keyamo, Minister of Aviation, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police; Chief Ibrahim Dende, Oluomo of Yewaland; Mr. Kolawole  P. Fagbohun, Head of Service, Ogun State; and ACG Adeogun A. Alajogun, Asst. Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service.

The event was graced by traditional rulers from across Yewaland led by HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland; and notable Yewa indigenous from across the globe. In her remarks, Her Excellency Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, commended the organizers of the festival and appreciated her selection as one of the worthy recipients of this year’s edition.

The Yewa Cultural Festival continues today, with different activities outlined for the week. Saturday’s events however, marks a grand commencement to the week-long festival. The joy that echoed through the air, and the camaraderie that blossomed in every corner – it all wove together a tapestry of memories that will forever be etched in the heart of every attendees.
