The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR will tomorrow lead Yewa Elites and Groups to commission a multi-million Naira electrification project provided through communal efforts at the College of Agricultural Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro-Yewa.
The electrification project which include the provision of a 500 KVA, Provision of concrete poles and cables, and connection to the national grid brings to an end a five-year period of running the campus solely on generator and diesel, with its attendant cost to operations expenses.
The University Authority had in 2016, when the College moved to its permanent site, appealed to Oba Olugbenle and the Yewa Think Tank to facilitate the process of getting the Campus connected to the National Grid. However, the completion of the project was delayed by pre-2019 prevailing political climate and the Covid-19 restrictions.
The project which has now brought relief and up swinged activities at the College community received major contributions from Yewa elites including Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, Rt Hon. Suraj Adekunbi and groups which include the Yewa Education Trust Fund, Ayetoro-Yewa Central Initiative for Development. Yewa Descendants Union, UK & Ireland and the Yewa Descendants Union, North America.
