ASSEMBLY PASSES RESOLUTION TO END OBASHIP TUSSLE IN AGOSASA

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the state government to prevail on security agencies to ensure the deployment of security personnel to Agosasa community in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state to restore peace and orderliness, thereby protecting lives and property of residents in the area.

The resolution followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by the member representing Ipokia/Idiroko State Constituency, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, shortly after he reported the recent civil unrest.

Hon. Oyedele said he was deeply concerned about the recent chaos that had plagued Agosasa community, leading to escalated violence and instability threatening the safety and well-being of the residents.

He reported that the conflict was as a result of the installation and coronation of the Oba of Agosasa which was opposed by some groups during a Plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The lawmaker called for a decisive action to restore peace and security, underscoring the need for the Nigeria Police to establish a permanent security base at Agosasa, to address the situation, imploring all parties involved to prioritise dialogue and reconciliation as means towards resolving their grievances and conflicts.

“There is no price too high to pay for peace and we must collectively work towards fostering harmony and understanding within our community”, he said.
