YEWA NORTH LG CHAIRMAN CALLS FOR TEACHERS’ COMMITMENT

The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government in Ogun State, Hon. Gabriel Ogunyomi, has called on teachers to be more dedicated in the discharge of their duties through effective impartation of knowledge to engender academic excellence in their learners.

Hon. Ogunyomi, who stated this in a chat with newsmen in his office at Ayetoro, said teachers’ commitment and passion for school work would have positive impact on the lives of the pupils, urging them to brace up and find solace in the success of the students.

The Chairman cautioned them against unwholesome attitudes, such as lateness, sending pupils on an errand, poor lesson notes and nonchalant behaviour among others, warning that such laxity would no longer be condoned by the present administration, considering huge investment in the education sector.

He applauded some schools that had commenced academic work by conducting Welcome Test for their pupils on the first day of resumption, calling on parents and guardians to encourage and cooperate with teachers by providing necessary instructional materials for their wards.

The Local Government boss, who said that the determination of the present administration to make learning conducive, led to the construction and renovation of several blocks of classrooms in schools across the state, noted that deployment of teachers to schools, especially in the rural areas, through Ogun Teach scheme, had improved the competence of the teaching staff, enjoining stakeholders to join hands with government to achieve the set goals in the sector.

In their separate remarks, the Principal of Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Mr. Oluwagbenga Oladipe and her counterpart in a private school, Mrs. Adijat Olaonigan, pledged teachers’ commitment to work, appealing for more encouragement to enable them deliver.
