Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, has presented a total of N10,480,671,345.00 to the Legislative Council as its proposed Budget for 2026.
Speaking at the Odebiyi Legislative Chamber, Ayetoro, the Chairman, said the Budget tagged: "Budget of Consolidation" would make up of N5.729 billion as recurrent and N5.379 billion as Capital expenditures.
Giving highlights of the Appropriation, the Chairman said the sum of N572.949M would go for Personnel Cost, N4,341bn for CRFC while N187,130M would be spent on Overhead cost.
On the funding of the 2026 Budget, the Chairman said an estimated N144,146M would come from the Council Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), N40M from Allocation from the State Government Account while N6.313bn would be from Statutory Allocation from Federation Account.
The Local Government boss, while analysing the sectorial run down of the budget, said Agriculture would gulp N143.8M, road networking, grading and lathering of Rural Road would gulp ₦324.0M, Primary Healthcare N285.3M the sum of N188.5M would go for Education, while ₦1.38b would be expended on General Administration and Training and Retraining of staff and political functionaries is expected to gulp ₦285M
"We will continue to give staffers' welfare priority and treasure the lives of the residents, as the dividends of democracy have been widened to include the empowerment of people and the adequate provision of Infrastructural facilities,’’ the Chairman said.
He also lauded the efforts of career officers for their support and cooperation, while appreciating the legislative arm for their steadfastness, promising to strive hard to improve the living standard of the citizenry.
Reacting, the Leader of the House, Hon. Stephen Adeogun, commended the Chairman's developmental efforts, saying the legislative Council would ensure that the budget receives accelerated consideration, diligent scrutiny and speedy passage in the interest of the People.
The event had in attendance, Vice Chairman, Hon. Olumide Ilori, Secretary of the Council, Alh. Lukumon Akinyemi, the Supervisory Councillors, the Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), Mr Tajudeen Adesoye and other career Officers, among others.
