Determined to ensure food security, Ogun State government, through its Ministry of Agriculture, has initiated plans to revive the long-abandoned Agricultural Institute in Igbogila, Yewa North Local Government Area, through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement.
The institute, constructed during late Olabisi Onabanjo administration, is strategically located near farm settlements like Sawonjo and Imasayi, making it an ideal hub for agricultural activities.
Commissioner in the ministry, Hon. Bolu Owotomo, disclosed this during a visit to the institute, accompanied by a member of the State House of Assembly representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Hon. Adeyanju Adegbite, adding that a central market would be established to serve the axis, as requested by the community.
Owotomo expressed government’s readiness to partner with agripreneurs who were willing to invest in the institute, to cater farmers and unemployed youths in the area and the state at large. Contributing, Hon. Adegbite, commended the Commissioner's passion for the project, saying the revival of the institute which had been abandoned for three decades, would improve the livelihood of farmers and create agricultural opportunities for youths.
