The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle has emphasised the need for parents and wards to incorporate eggs in the daily meals of children, saying eggs are rich with protein, vitamins, and minerals that will enhance the daily meals of the children.
Oba (Dr.) Olugbenle stated this during the 2023 celebration of “World Egg Day” themed “Egg, Food for All Ages” organised by the Poultry Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter (PANOG) in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State.
The Monarch described World Egg Day as a day that brings individuals, communities, and organizations together to share recipes, cooking tips, and information about the benefits of eggs.
In his remark, the guest speaker at the event, Director of Medical Services, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Dr. Babatunde Jesusina, emphasized the importance of egg consumption, saying the celebration serves as a global acknowledgment of the essential role eggs play in human diets and existence.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Chairman of PANOG, Engr. Idowu Asenuga appreciated Oba Olugbenle for his support and contribution in orientating Yewa people on the nutritional value of consuming an egg daily.
Highlights of the event include the unveiling of the moulded biggest egg in the world weighing about 100kg, 2.3ft tall and 1.5ft wide.
