Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has charged the new Oja of Agosasa, Oba Azeez Akinpelu to use his position to accelerate the socio-economic development of the town and its environs.
Prince Abiodun gave the charge at the installation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the new monarch in Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government Area of the State.
Represented by the Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, Governor Abiodun said, the monarch should ensure further peaceful co-existence amongst his people, other neighbouring towns, and Royal Fathers within Yewaland and the entire Ogun State, saying his dreams and aspiration of taking Agosasa to the desired height could only be achieved if unity abounds in the community.
“The selection process that culminated in the emergence of Oba Akinpelu as the new Oja of Agosasa followed the due process as prescribed by the Obas and Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2021 as well as the Chieftaincy Declaration of Agosasa. Let me say that the accolades that greeted the declaration of Oba Azeez Akinpelu as the new Oja of Agosasa revealed that the appointment received the overwhelming support of the people, and it is indeed a step in the right direction for the continued development of the Agosasa town”, said the Governor.
He admonished the monarch that as a father he should be accessible, receptive, and responsive to the yearnings of his people, adding that his appointment was a call to serve and thus, he should justify the mandate and trust reposed in him.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman, Ipokia Local Government, Hon. Agbetokun Wasiu, urged the new monarch to use his appointment for the development of the community and Ipokia Local Government as a whole, soliciting the support of the sons and daughters of Agosasa both at home and diaspora to take the community and the entire State to a greater height.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Akinpelu appreciated the Governor for the appointment, promising that he would continue to initiate and promote policies that would enhance the unity and solidarity of the people, thereby making sure they remain an indivisible community, assuring the State government of his unalloyed loyalty, that of the council of chiefs and the entire good people of Agosasa to support the development of the State at large.
