FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION: YEWA-SOUTH LG FARMERS LAUD GOV. ABIODUN

Towards ensuring bumper harvests, fertilizers have been distributed to registered farmers in Yewa-South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Speaking during the exercise at Ilaro, Head Of Local Government Administration (HOLGA) in the local government, Mr. Oluwole Fateru, stated that the gesture would go a long way in relieving farmers in the area and boosting food security.

While lauding Governor Abiodun for facilitating the distribution, Mr. Fateru noted that agriculture remains the fundamental pillar of the nation’s economy, with capacity to generate employment opportunities for the people, thereby lauding the state government for investing heavily in the sector.

He enjoined the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the farm input, urging farmers to always support government’s agricultural empowerment programmes initiated to promote food production in the state.

Appreciating the state government for its efforts in the agriculture sector, Coordinator of registered farmers in the local government, Mr. Friday Hunjenukon, implored the beneficiaries to use the fertilizers for its purpose and not to sell them.

One of the beneficiaries, a rice farmer from Idogo area of the local government, Mrs. Famuyiwa Module, who commended Governor Abiodun or his giant strides in the sector, noted that the free distribution of fertilizers to farmers in the area would reduce poverty to zero level and encourage youths in the state to venture into farming, promising to utilise the fertilizer judiciously to enhance food production in the state.
