Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun says bureaucratic bottleneck stalled the reconstruction of the Lagos-Sango-Abeokuta Expressway, as residents were assured that Agbara-Lusada-Atan road would be completed in September.
Governor Abiodun made this known during an interview with newsmen, after inspecting the 20-kilometer Agbara -Lusada-Atan road in the Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area, stating that good road network was important to economic development of the state and the nation in general.
He explained that the road belongs to the Federal Government and had been in bad shape for a long time, recalling the joint efforts put forward by Ogun and Lagos state governments towards reconstruction of the road.
The Governor, acknowledged the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting the transfer of the road to the state, ‘’ but the state still faced stiff opposition from some federal officials on the transfer, which forced the government to formally award the contract in May, with or without the necessary transfer papers’’.
Abiodun, who pointed out that he embarked on the inspection of 20-kilometer Agbara -Lusada-Atan road, to see the level of work done so far, assured that the road would be dualised from the Lagos-Badagry end to Agbara Estate gate, as a single lane would be constructed to Atan, to aid movement, seeking the cooperation and understanding of residents while the construction would last.
